NZS8510:2017: Testing and Decontamination of Methamphetamine-Contaminated Properties

NZS8510:2017 is the technical standard governing how meth testing and decontamination must be conducted in New Zealand. It remains the required methodology under the new 2026 government regulations.

Note: NZS8510:2017 is currently under review. An updated version is expected to be published in early 2027.

2.

New Government Meth Regulations
(from 15 April 2026)

The new 2026 regulations introduced two enforceable thresholds: above 15 µg/100cm² (contaminated); above 30 µg/100cm² (uninhabitable). Clearance testing must be completed by an independent IANZ-accredited provider. Kiwi Safeas provides full documentation compliant with both the old and new thresholds.
