From 15 April 2026, New Zealand’s new methamphetamine regulations are legally in force. Properties above 15 µg/100cm² cannot be rented or advertised. Properties above 30 µg/100cm² are considered uninhabitable. Non-compliance is an unlawful act under the Residential Tenancies Act.
Commercial operators face real exposure under these rules. Documentation, record-keeping for a minimum of 12 months, and certified decontamination are all legal requirements. The NZS8510:2017 methodology remains required for all testing and decontamination work.

Pre-assessment testing is carried out by an independent IANZ-accredited testing company. If the report shows contamination above 15 µg/100cm², send it to Kiwi Safeas.
We review the report and prepare a fixed-price quote and scope of work. A method statement and H&S plan is provided to your facilities or compliance team before work begins.
Once the price and scope are approved, we confirm the start date. Work begins within 2 working days of written confirmation.
Our IICRC certified technicians carry out systematic decontamination to NZS8510:2017 standards. Decontamination takes 2 to 3 working days in summer and 3 to 4 working days in winter. We completely dry the property before the testing company returns.
The independent testing company carries out post-decontamination testing once we have completed and dried the property. Results must be at or below 15 µg/100cm².
Once you receive the post-decontamination testing report, send it to Kiwi Safeas. We review the results and prepare your clearance documentation.
We issue the clearance certificate and full compliance documentation. This includes test reports, method statements, and chain-of-custody records formatted for insurance claims and compliance records.
